Who is this?
This is Debayan, a Data Scientist and Machine Learning Researcher
I am currently a Data Scientist at miiCARE. I was previously an remote intern here, where I worked directly under the Founder, to create the foundational analytic and R&D work for the startup. Now, as a full-time Core Data Scientist hired directly after graduation, I am pursuing more complex responsibilities in novel ML approaches in geriatrics to help the elderly and people with dementia live independent lives without the fear of being left alone or forgotten.

Relief Proposal for the Elderly in the UK
Mindstream-AI organized a Hackathon called #CoronaHack in partnership with DataBiology Labs , UCL, Francis Crick Institute and NVIDIA between 15th and 19th of April 2020.
I formed a team called Project Insight with Mil Williams, CEO and Founder of Better Biz Me Ltd , Kelvin S, CEO of miiCARE and Mentor at Hack the Crisis Netherlands .
Our solution was based on the team's collective experience in Healthcare Business and Analytics and called for two things:
- The development of a NLP-powered Anecdotal Diary Application where people can share their experiences dealing with the pandemic.
- COVID19 Infection Diagnosis for the Elderly came 12 hours late on average than other age groups. For the ones who actually died, their diagnosis came 6 days late.
miiCARE , my employing company offered to share their existing medical testing infrastructure to help the Elderly in the UK
We didn't win, but we had a great time learning from the incredible vaccine research proposals done by the biostatisticians and doctors who also participated in the Hackathon.

Regional Language Transcription in English
MyGov has an operational voice helpline, which allows users to call and leave feedback and suggestions. These citizen voice notes are critical in encouraging inclusive and participative governance. The voice notes are primarily in Hindi & regional languages. The next emerging billion are exploring the internet through a voice-first medium, and to foster their participation in governance and holistically consume their feedback, MyGov is exploring AI-based solution(s) for converting these voice notes into text, analyzing them and, contextualizing and summarizing them for actionable insights.
Competition Process:
- In Stage 1, we were shortlisted on our prior team-member experience in the ‘Voice to Text’ domain and the viability of our proposed solution on 16th November 2018.
- In Stage 2, we were evaluated on the accuracy, prediction latency, scalability, domain intelligence, linguistic breadth and frugality of our proposed model.
- Our presentation and demonstration was evaluated by the then Program Director of NASSCOM CoE, Subhash Gaitonde , along with the Executive + Creative Department of NASSCOM CoE on 16th September 2018 at the NASSCOM CoE Headquarters in Bengaluru, India.
- We won for the "Most Innovative Award" with a cash price of 10,000 INR for our startup on 9th December 2018
